Effects of nitrate and phosphate on the growth and toxin production of Amphidinium klebsii (Sanya strain)

In order to evaluate the growth and toxin production of Amphidinium klebsii (Sanya strain) under different nitrate and phosphate concentrations, a series of nitrate and phosphate solutions were prepared based on modified K medium. Nitrate and phosphate had significant effects on the growth and toxin productivity of A. klebsii. Low-nitrate and low-phosphate concentrations (N concentration≤4.665×10-4mol•L-1, P concentration≤2.000×10-5mol•L-1) in culture media were not favorable to the biomass accumulation of A. klebsii but favorable to its growth and toxin production. On the contrary, middle-nitrate and middle-phosphate concentrations (4.665×10-4mol•L-1
