Abstract: A new design of 3-component magnetometer for deep ocean near seafloor is proposed to measure the geomagnetic field in high sensitivity for seafloor orebody investigation, whose magnetic field detector is based on Anisotropic Magneto Resistive (AMR) sensor. The error model of the sensor is analyzed in detail and the flow of correction procedure is given. The basic design of the sensor circuit, communication part and memory part is also discussed. Finally the experimental and test data to date is given, and the thinking of future work is discussed.
