Abstract:

Acquisition footprints generated during the marine seismic streamer construction have a great impact on fine struc-tural interpretation and description of reservoir properties. Residual static correction can effectively attenuate the influence from the acquisition footprints and improve image quality of the seismic profiles. In this paper, the principle of residual static correction and the method to suppress the acquisition footprints are described briefly. An application of the residual static correction using marine seismic data shows that the residual static correction plays an effective role in the attenuation of ac-quisition footprints.
