Abstract: Based on the hydrodynamic model of the environmental fluid dynamics code (EFDC), The water exchange in the Qinglan tidal inlet was calculated in 1965 and 2006 using water age concentration and water quality formula. The results showed that the average water exchange time of the Qinglan tidal inlet was about 107 d in 2006, while it was about 114 d in 1965. This was mainly because the Qinglan harbor channel was dredged to 7~8m, which led to significantly enhanced tidal energy and the increase of tidal prism by 4.3%.
