Abstract:

The experiment on culturing fry Sparus aurata, an imported species, was carried out in the outdoor shaded cement pool in 2007, with the fry size being 3cm in length. The result showed that, after 366 days of culturing, adult fish reached 307.9g in average weight (260.0—380.0g), 25.8cm in average body length (23.5—28.2cm) and 8.8 cm in average body width (8.2—9.5cm), with a survival rate of 92.2% and food coefficient of 2.3. Fast growth rate and high stress resistance ability suggest that this species is adaptable for industrialized culture in Guangxi province.
