Abstract:

The rice fermentation products of the fungus Penicillium sp. SCSIO 06871 from the deep-sea Indian Ocean were studied in this paper. The extract was isolated and purified by silica, Sephadex LH-20, and reversed phase octadecylsilyl (ODS) column chromatography, as well as semipreparative high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Eight known compounds, including sydowinin B (1), mrlactone1 (2), AGI-B4 (3), methyl cordyol C (4), diorcinol (5), 11-dehydrosydonic acid (6), (+)-sydonic acid (7), and methyl indole-3-acetate (8) were obtained and identified by analyzing their nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra, mass spectrum (MS) spectra and specific rotation values. Compounds 4, 5 and 8 showed different degree of inhibitory activities against multiple pathogenic bacteria. Also, compounds 5-8 all showed inhibitory activities against α-glycosidase.

Key words: deep-sea-derived fungus, Penicillium sp., secondary metabolite, antibacterial, inhibitory activity against α-glycosidase
