Abstract: Based on monthly mean SODA (Simple Ocean Data Assimilation) data of 50 years (1958a2007), major features and seasonal variation of the North Pacific meridional net salt transport are systematically studied. The results show that the seasonal variation in the North Pacific meridional net salt transport displays strong regional characteristics. It has a stronger seasonal variation south of 14sN than north of 14NN. The seasonal variation is mainly caused by the seasonal oscillation of Ekman salt transport and the central-eastern Pacific meridional salt transport at the same latitude.
