Abstract:

This paper introduces the composition of a real-time remote monitoring system for hydro-meteorology deployed around the Xisha Islands and a brief analysis using part of the observed data. The monitoring system is composed of hydro-logical monitoring unit and meteorological monitoring unit. The observed data is transmitted in real time and users are able to receive, view and save the data synchronously. The authors analyze not only the velocity and direction of wind during Typhoon No.0801, but also the wave, wind and atmospheric pressure affected by other three typhoons during the period from 23 September to 4 October 2008. The results show that the real-time remote monitoring system for hydro-meteorology deployed around the Xisha Islands is operational for marine environment monitoring, especially for disastrous marine environment monitoring.
